The symbolic meaning of white is very unusual. White color symbolizes spirituality, the intangible world, and light as such (white clothing of angels, for example). And light is both human consciousness, and higher, divine powers. By the way, the connection between light and consciousness is confirmed by modern science, which proves that consciousness is basically a structured light (elements of nerve cells, so-called microtubules transmit photons of light from cell to cell, and when the electrical activity in these elements for some cause is inhibited, the person loses consciousness!)

White also symbolizes good and the world (white flag as a symbol of surrender, white magic is "good" magic).

White color symbolizes innocence, purity (white dress of the bride), mother's beginning, (white lily as a symbol of the Virgin Mary), the moon, timelessness, unity. Also, we often meet with the fact that white color is associated with death, and in some cultures even is a color of mourning. In our language, for example, there is a stable expression of "deathly pallor". White color is associated with death as a transition to a higher, non-material world, and death at the same time is a spiritual rebirth and renewal. That is why white color in the process of spiritual transformation, the spiritual path appears at the final stages - after the death of the "old" person, the "guise", as a symbol of the spiritual birth of a new, more perfect person.

White color is absolute freedom, resolution of problems and the beginning of a new one. (The expression "to give carte blanche" (white card) means to give unlimited powers, complete freedom for action, "get a white ticket" - exemption from military service).

Psychological significance

White and black are non-emotional colors, i.e. Do not talk about our attitude to something, but show the overall psycho-energetic level of the individual. It is possible to draw an analogy with the unconscious instinctive reaction of a person to stress, "to fight - to run or to stop". The white color corresponds to the reaction of flight, dissolution, dispersion, and black means absorption and thickening, folding, fading, aggressive persistence, emotional stupor in a shock situation.

In the drawings, in works on art therapy, in the drawings of the mandala, white color can appear in two ways - either as a sketched, empty space, or as superimposed over another color pearly white. The pearly white color in the figure is a sign of synthesis, the union of opposites, a sign of spiritual work to reconcile internal conflicts. White color, empty space in the center of the picture - spirituality, clarity, readiness for change, transpersonal experiences, which is the source of inspiration, healing.

Love of white color and character

The choice of white in clothes, in the process of creativity, in an art therapy session, or in a color test can tell about the complexities and problems of the individual. Preference for white can be associated with a low level of energy, or its loss, a negative attitude toward one's bodily, instinctive manifestations. Often the white color speaks of experiences of isolation, boredom, frustration, detachment, the desire to avoid strong experiences. In general, the love of white color suggests that the person is prone to avoidance reactions, that in a person there is a growing desire to get rid of painful connections or circumstances, "cleanse", "bleach", start a new life.

Of course, colors are rarely used isolated from each other. Much more information gives us not a single color, but a combination of several colors.
